Shift bidding software

Run open-shift and annual seniority shift bids online

Shift bidding means open shifts go to the members who bid for them — under your rules, in your order, with everything logged — instead of to whoever answered the phone first. My Shift Bid runs both kinds: day-to-day open-shift bidding, where qualified crews pick up postings from their phones, and the annual master shift bid, where members pick their permanent spots in seniority order on a live board. It's the feature we named the company after.

What is shift bidding?

Shift bidding is how public-safety agencies fill shifts fairly. Instead of a supervisor working down a call list, open shifts are posted where every qualified member sees them at the same time, and members submit bids to work them. Awards follow the agency's own policy — seniority, rank, first-come, or a custom order — so the outcome is consistent, explainable, and documented. Most agencies pair it with an annual shift bid, where members pick their permanent assignments for the year in seniority order.

  • Everyone qualified sees the opening at the same moment
  • Awards follow policy, not memory or favorites
  • Every posting, bid, and award is logged
  • Supervisors stop spending their shift on the phone
How My Shift Bid does it

Bidding, end to end

Open-shift bidding

Post an open shift once. Qualified members get notified and bid from any phone. You choose what clears automatically and what waits for a supervisor.

Annual master shift bid

Members pick in your bid order, each on a timer, and everyone watches the board fill in live. One click restores the old schedule if you need it.

Every bid, rule-checked

Rest between shifts, hour caps, certifications, and bid order are checked on every bid before it reaches anyone. Bad bids never make it to the schedule.

Live boards

Schedules and bid boards update on every screen the moment something changes — no refreshing, no stale printouts on the day room wall.

AI Shift Assistant

Point it at a week with holes. It weighs pending bids, swaps, and availability, proposes a rule-checked fill for every gap, and you approve with one click.

Swaps and coverage too

Bidding covers open shifts; trades cover life. Members swap or cover with a tracked request, and both schedules update together.

How does seniority-based bidding work?

Your bid order is a setting, not a spreadsheet somebody maintains. Rank members by seniority, by rank, or by a custom list, and both daily awards and the annual bid follow it automatically. In the annual bid, each member gets their turn on a timer — the next person up is notified, picks from what's left, and the board moves on. Members who bid from a phone in the truck get the same fair turn as members at a station computer.

Yes. Bid order is a setting: seniority, rank, a custom list, or first-come. The same order drives the annual master shift bid, and you can change it whenever your policy changes.

You set the bid order and open the bid. Members pick their spots one at a time from any device, each on their own timer, and the whole agency watches the schedule board fill in live. If something goes wrong mid-bid, one click restores the schedule to the way it was.

Yes. Every posting, bid, award, and denial is logged with who acted and when. When someone asks why they didn't get a shift, the answer is in the record, not in anyone's memory.
